Dallas medical missions family missing in wake of Haiti earthquake

A local family and several other volunteers from the area and other parts of Texas who traveled to Haiti to provide local less fortunate people with eye surgeries are missing in the wake of the earthquake to strike Haiti earlier this week.

Dr. Gary Fish and his  son, along with three technicians, departed from Dallas on Saturday, January 9th, and planned to return on Sunday the 17th.  Dr. Fish works with the Texas Retina Association as an ophthalmologist and originally intended to perform the surgeries about 40 miles south of Haiti's capital.

Shortly after the earthquake hit, Dr. Fish's son sent a text to his father's colleague stating that they were ok.  SInce then, getting a hold of them has been impossible due to communications being down.

More information on this story will be reported as it becomes available.
