The Dallas convention center was overrun December 27th and 28th with EDM fans from all over the world to bring in the new year by seeing some of their favorite electronic artists, ranging from contest winning DJ's to international superstars; it was a music lovers dream. With any festival it can be easy to focus on the culture surrounding the music. Sex, drugs, teenage development, etc. However, the story here is how Lights All Night has in a few short years effectively put Dallas on the map as an international EDM destination.

The lineup this year was phenomenal! Kaskade, Deadmau5, Nicky Romero, Icona Pop, Fedde Le Grand, A-Trak, Above and Beyond, Major Lazer, and Krewella are just a few of the most notable names that made this such a worthy event. Almost every style of electronic music was represented including all the dubstep, ambient, chill, tech house, electro house, RnB, Rap, moombaton... It was overwhelming and amazing all at once. The icing on the cake was the highly active stages. The main stage had fire cannons (yes, that is as awesome as it sounds), plenty of lasers, canons for confetti, streamers, air canons, fog machines and HUGE LED screens that flooded the crowd with a wide array of color and warmth. Taking a minute to look through the slideshow is well worth your time.

What made this year particularly better than years past was the convenient stage setup. Last year the event was held in Fair Park. It was a nice to be in such a historic area and have such an awesome view of downtown, however moving between stages was miserable. It required going outside in the freezing cold and shoving through restrictive doors and being searched every time you went in and out. This year was much better. The two main stages were on different levels of the same massive hall; going to the other stage took a quick couple of minutes. Seeing every artist was a possibility, which isn’t true for most large festivals. With 48,000 in attendance, this was the biggest and best year for Lights All Night, yet. Expect Lights All Night 2014 to be even bigger and better. Be sure to get your tickets ahead of time, because like this year it’s certain to sell out.
