Dallas Cowboys playoff scenarios are a hot topic, but so is the fear of the coaches that might get fired. The Dallas Cowboys playoff scenarios are pretty specific, but a report from ESPN on Sunday (Dec. 22) gives some insight from the people calling the plays. The report states that there is internal concern about head coach Jason Garrett and his entire coaching staff getting fired if the team doesn't find a way to win the NFC East.
So just how can the team win the division? Winning in Week 16 against the Washington Redskins and again in Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles will clinch the NFC East. That's the easiest route to the postseason. Another path, if the team loses on Sunday, is for the Eagles to also lose against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. With that outcome, the Cowboys would then just have to beat the Eagles in the Week 17 game. They would win the head-to-head tie-breaker and move on to the postseason.
While it is pretty easy to work out the Dallas Cowboys playoff scenarios, but really needs to happen is for the defense to step up in a big way during the final two weeks. If the team doesn't beat the Redskins and the Eagles beat the Bears, the season is basically over for them. That could lead to owner Jerry Jones quickly cleaning house and starting over from the ground level when it comes to his coaching staff.
