The Dallas Cowboys season can officially be called a bust. Although I saw that coming from a mile away, or how about 17 weeks ago.
I didn’t think the Cowboys would win the NFC East title, it pretty much played into exactly what I have been saying about the Cowboys all season long. I picked the Giants to win the NFC East.
And to add insult to injury, Jason Garrett has enough gull to say, and he has his excuse—the reason the Cowboys won’t be playing and hosting a Wild Card Weekend game is, that the Cowboys were in a rebuilding season.
HA! What a laugh. Let’s get serious here. What did they start to rebuild?
This is the Dallas Cowboys, not the Arizona Cardinals, who by the way, have embarrassed the Cowboys this season and has been to a Super Bowl in the past five seasons. What have the Cowboys done? Make excuses after excuses.
Now, what I am about to write here, will probably ice the cake for my credentials to get officially lost in the mail for next season, but the Cowboys won’t be a good team until Jerry Jones admits, and accepts the fact that he has no talent for finding talent, and the yes men he has who “assists him” in making talent decisions, are no good either. The true and ultimate fact is—he just stinks at it.
The Cowboys need to be just like every other team out there. But here is another fact as I see it. Me, Sonny Clark, the Dallas Cowboys Examiner (for how long I don‘t know), and a never receiving credentials from the Cowboys—even if they did get a G.M., Jones would be the Assistant Buttinski, because he will think he knows better.
With Jones in the day to day operations, from who sells the Cotton Candy, to who plays on Sunday, Jones himself is the Cancer of this team.
That’s right I said it! CANCER.
Jerry Jones won’t step back. He has to be a part of it, but it hasn’t worked with him in the middle of things since the 90’s, and we all know that Jimmy Johnson was the reasons why this team was dominate in the 90’s, and won Super Bowls.
The reason why Jimmy Johnson didn’t stay, was because the man with the dollar bills overflowing out of his the his pockets of his suits, was too involved. He was too involved then, and it is only gotten worse today.
He reads things, he knows what the fans wants, but he doesn’t care. He is a billionaire, the last thing he is going to do is listen to the fan base. His ego won’t let him step aside.
Heck fans are still buying up memorabilia and lifetime seating at Cowboys Stadium, and they aren’t even a good team. He has everyone snowed. Even if he did get the “G.M.” it wouldn’t be real.
He can’t help it, the Cowboys are his drug, and he has to get his daily fix. His narcissistic personality won’t let anyone else reap, or enjoy reward of success. It is, and always has been, “all about him.” Until that changes, for real, it isn’t going to be good for Cowboys fans, but it will be OK for Jones.
Here are more facts:
Fact: the defense was just as bad this season as last season.
Fact: Rob Ryan had no chance, and he knew it as well as the rest of the people who looked at this team, at the beginning the season.
Fact: Ultimately the defense was wore down and figured out. Even the best D.C. wouldn’t have had a chance at success here.
Fact: Jerry Jones let the off season maneuvers of the Houston Texans, and the Philadelphia Eagles punk him out in talent, and grab up the best two corners available. What did Jones do? NOTHING! He stood pat. Way to go Jer!
Fact: Jones dropped the football!
It was what I expected, and wrote about here in Examiner.
The defensive secondary was horrendous at the end of the season last year, and it didn’t improve this season.
As we go forward. let’s see if there is any change, because right now the Cowboys are OK with mediocrity. It is obvious.
If the secondary isn’t a main concern for the Dallas Cowboys moving forward, then we will see another season like this season, and the fans will slowly figure it out, and the “Billion Dollar Stadium” will suffer.
May not be next season, or the season after that, however attendance will suffer if the Cowboys don’t show urgency to win.
The fans will soon stop coming. As amazing as the stadium is, it can be empty, if the Cowboys don’t start winning.
The Cowboys dropped the ball on the field, but the ultimate responsoiblity for the success for this team is Jones.
