Dallas Cowboys great Nate Newton to speak at West Irving COGIC Men's Conference

In Texas, football is a second language. Throw church in the mix and 'other tongues' translates to 'teams not named the Dallas Cowboys.' Sports fans all over the metroplex remember the three Super Bowls the Dallas Cowboys won in the 90's that solidified the team's legacy as "America's Team". Who could forget that? No true Cowboys fan ever will...until the team earns its sixth Lombardi trophy. A very integral part of those championship years is former offensive lineman Nate Newton. In addition to hearing from the world champion, the night will feature male choruses from all over the DFW metroplex.

Pastor Andrew Jackson, Jr. of the West Irving COGIC is a Dallas Cowboys and Nate Newton fan as well. The two met at the 2006 Orange Bowl and have kept in touch since meeting. Like most Cowboys fans of the 90's, Pastor Jackson can easily recall Newton's days of dominance on the offensive line. You can imagine the sheer joy of meeting such a football giant. In an interview memphisport.com, Jackson says of Newton's playing days: "...he was one of the best (lineman) in the NFL."

Miles away from Valley Ranch Newton and two decades away from the glory days of the 90's, Newton is a new man. Much slimmer and healthier, he's living the best days of his life. and much more to the West Irving COGIC on Friday evening as part of this year's Men's Conference. This year's theme is: "A Man After God's Own Heart". Newton is a man who can speak on the subject, becoming a new man after his highly profiled arrests and jail time. Newton will speaks as part of the first half of this year's conference. The second half kicks off on Saturday morning at 8 am, the day's events include a financial literacy clinic.
