The Dallas Cowboys have made history in the NFL, but never has a team won a Super Bowl in their own stadium.
The Dallas Cowboys have a chance to make history again if they can get to the Super Bowl that is going to be played at Cowboys Stadium. The Cowboys won their first playoff game last season since 1996, only to lose badly against the Vikings.
All eyes are on head coach Wade Phillips, who has a history of coaching teams that do well during the season only to fall apart in the playoffs. Phillips has been a coach of some of the most one-sided playoff games ever played. Unfortunately, two of them were while he was leading these Cowboys.
Erase all of that. This is the 2010 season. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice are entering their third years. Marion Barber could possibly return to his red-zone running game that made him popular. The running game is effective and it will remain effective in 2010.
The defense is anchored by DeMarcus Ware and old-timer Keith Brooking. The problem on defense over the past decade has been the secondary. Alan Ball is the new safety and teams will challenge a secondary that had one of the worse interception rates in football.

The offensive line has new depth, and also a new starter in Doug Free. Coaches have been praising Free already and it looks like he will become the starter in a seamless process. But the offensive line from this past season did give up the most sacks in Tony Romo’s career. Adding depth and Free to the front line may not help lower that scary sack number. Have the Cowboys done enough to strengthen the front line?
Tony Romo is ready to win. There’s no clue if he can pull out a Super Bowl victory, but this kid threw only 9 interceptions last season. That’s remarkable for an NFC East team. The big question is if Miles Austin can play anywhere near the talent he showed last season. Of course, everyone wonders if Roy Williams will wake up and how rookie Dez Bryant will impact his playing time. And how good can this Bryant kid be? He hasn’t played at all in the preseason because of a bad ankle.

An 11-5 season is not out of the realm of possibility for the Dallas Cowboys. There is a cohesive unit that is in place now, with vocal leaders and players who work hard at improving.
The Cowboys just need to jump over a few more hurdles to return to the Big Game. Is this team good enough to end the December slump that has signified the doom of the Cowboys every year since 1996?
Even last year’s playoff win of the Eagles was short lived after the whooping by the Vikings.

A couple of points:
Austin from reports didn't have a particularly good camp. He sure as hell didn't look good in games. I hope he doesn't read his press clippings and think he has arrived..
Roy W actually looked pretty good in camp and in the games..He seemed to be the only receiver that actually played well against the Texans..He would have scored but was interfered with by a Houston CB..
Hard to tell about the Offense..Against Houston they played with 60% of their starting lineup out..Baron looked pretty good and it has become apparent that Kosier may be the most valuable OLineman they have..All the pressure on Romo seems to be coming up the middle..
I think Ball is an upgrade in coverage. Gone are the days of plugging in a LB like Roy Williams and calling him a safety..Ball will cover better..
Can the Cowboys get and stay healthy? That is going to determine their fate..IMHO..
Got something to say?
