Dallas Blooms at the Arboretum until April 7th (Photos)

March 2nd the petals at the Dallas Arboretum began to open wide for the annual Dallas Blooms celebration, each one with a vivid new sight or sensation. Over 500,000 bulbs flown in from Holland are parting their petals for the thousands that flock to the Arboretum this spring including an amazing gallery of tulips and azaleas.

On display this year until December 31st, this year's features include traveling with the world's greatest explorers, venturing into the replicas of their expeditions and achievements. Following the tracks of legends like Ponce de Leon, Marco Polo, Lewis and Clark, Cabeza de Vaca and Captain James Cook, the entire world is lost and found again at Dallas Blooms.

Children's activities will also speckle the green fields this spring as Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekends from noon to 4 p.m., kids' fun will be as vibrant as the blooms, featuring goats, sheep and other critters at the petting zoo, face painting, crafts, and even Easter photos with a real bunny. On Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m., Silhouette Artist, Micki Triggs, will be on site to etch the light and shadows of flower-gazers for only $10 each.

Also, pn March 29th, children's musician, Eddie Coker, will bring the beats to families with his Good Friday Children's Concert as melodies flow through the 66 acre collection of gardens at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday are buy one get one free to boot, proving to be one of the most family-friendly events of the spring.

Dallas Blooms will only last until April 7th, so plan a visit to the Arboretum before those summer temperatures begin to sizzle.
