Dallas bikers hit the roads on first weekend of May (slide show) (Photos)

One thing about riding a motorcycle in the Dallas area, there’s never a loss for good rides and fellowship. The only hard part is picking which function to attend since there are so many options. Indeed, North Texas bikers were hitting the roads in mass this weekend.

Many attended their choice of biker friendly churches Sunday before hitting the roads going every direction you could think of. With the economy and fuel prices hitting everyone’s pocket book, riding in the wind is not only the most economical way to travel but the most fun.

Riding motorcycles is the closest feeling one can get to flying, without leaving the ground. That’s why club colors (vests with club patches and emblems) are always referred to as being ‘flown’. A term you might hear is “Are you going to fly when you go to Houston?” This terminology can mean “Are you riding and wearing your club colors when you go to Houston – or will you cage it?” (caging is riding in a car). Another motorcycle euphemism is “Let’s fly!” which can be heard from the Road Captain as he leads a pack out on the highway toward a predetermined destination.

Dallas area riders had the choice of choosing between a minimum of 14 events this weekend and 7 events are scheduled for next weekend (that this reporter has been notified of so far).

If you ever have a question about what’s going on with North Texas Motorcyclists, one good place to look is at Suds and Butterfly’s Event page.

So . . . North Texas Bikers, go out there this summer and fly!
