Dallas based fighter Johny Hendricks stops Jon Fitch in a stunning 12 second KO

LAS VEGAS - Last night’s UFC 141 was full memorable moments and surprises. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night came when Dallas’s own Johny Hendricks knocked out perennial welterweight contender Jon Fitch in just 12 seconds.

Hendricks was the clear underdog to Fitch who is widely considered one of the best fighters in MMA not wearing a gold belt. Hendricks landed a thunderous left right on the light switch that sent Fitch down. Hendricks followed up with a few more shots but Fitch was clearly out and the fight was stopped.

Hendricks was on a two fight win streak following a loss Rick Story. He trains with Team Takedown who moved their entire camp from Las Vegas to Dallas two years ago.

With this win, Hendricks may not yet be ready for a title shot, but he is certainly in the equation. He holds a 12-1 overall record and is among the division’s top wrestlers.

Hendricks showed with this victory that wrestling is not all he has. Hendricks has won 7 fights by TKO or KO.

Following the win Hendricks told Joe Rogan, "I've been telling everyone I have a left hand. ... I knew if I landed it, I could knock him out."

Chalk up another win for the “Happy Bearded Guy.”

UFC 141 took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and aired live on PPV.
