If you missed the Dallas Art Fair last year you really should think about going this weekend, April 13-15. Held at the glossy Fashion Industry Gallery, the event will display the art of over 70 galleries hailing from all over the United States and abroad.
This isn’t standard art fare – well maybe some of it is – but by far most of the galleries exhibit visually diverse works in traditional and unorthodox media. Expect to see works illustrating light and movement in addition to texture and color. There may be a history lesson or two tucked among the images.
Local exhibitors include Artspace 111, Barry Whistler Gallery, Cris Worley Fine Arts, Conduit Gallery, Galleri Urbane, Holly Johnson Gallery, Kirk Hopper Fine Art, Marty Walker Gallery, PDNB Gallery, Russell Tether Fine Art Associates, Talley Dunn Gallery, Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden.
More than a display of creativity, the fair includes panel discussions and seminars covering contemporary art issues. Expect great people watching, fine art shopping and conversations with local and international art aficionados.
The Fashion Industry Gallery is located at 1807 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas on the edge of the arts district. The exhibit is open April 13-14 11a.m. to 7 p.m. and April 15 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 adults, $20 for students and seniors.
