Dale Hollow celebrates Valentines

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park  in Burkesville has two unique events for couples celebrating Valentine’s Day for the weekend of February 10 through February 12, 2012.

On Friday evening Kelly O’Connell Brengelman will present a Chautauqua program as she entertains the audience with her portrayal of Lucy Bakewell Audubon.

Lucy Audubon (1787-1874) was the wife of John James Audubon.  Theirs was a story of art, ambition, devotion, deception, resentment, redemption, and most of all – love.  Lucy was highly educated and born to wealth and privilege.  She not only endured her husband’s eccentricity but also successfully adapted to life on the frontier with him.  Although her husband was gifted artistically, he was not good with money and suffered many business failures.  He said, however, “With her, was I not always rich?”

On Saturday evening couples can dance the night away to the music of the Klassyc Tymes  band.  The band has mastered all of the great dance tunes including Motown, R&B, Beach Music, Classic Rock, and Blues for what is sure to be a high energy evening.
