His Holiness the Dalai Lama has placed a great deal of importance to the development of positive human values. The Central Tibetan Administration reported on Aug. 25, 2013, that His Holiness the Dalai Lama feels inner values are important to tackle the world’s problems. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said that positive human values such as morality, love and tolerance should be developed in order to create a lasting peace and happiness in a world which is troubled by corruption, bullying and discords in the name of religion.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama said in his opening remarks on the first day of a three day teaching being given at the request of a group of Koreans, “The world still faces problems like corruption, hypocrisy and bullying of weak by strong despite introduction of rule of law, democracy and freedom of press.” There are 4,700 people people, which includes 250 Koreans and other devotees from 61 countries, attending the teachings at the main temple in Dharamsala, India.
The Dalai Lama has said, “Despite making tremendous technological advancement and material development, people still do not have inner happiness and lasting peace in the world. Lack of positive human values breed negative emotions like greed, jealousy and hatred.” He has stressed that the need to develop human values is shared for all 7 billion human beings, regardless of whether they believe or do not believe in religion. The Dalai Lama has also noted that all of the religions in the world teach development and promotion of morality, compassion, love, tolerance, contentment and self-discipline.
