In the midst of chaos worldwide, with corruption, unemployment, poverty, homelessness, and terrorism on the rise, it has been refreshing to hear of the Dalai Lama speaking about how pleasant the Tibetan culture is. The Tibet Post International reported on Oct. 7, 2013, "Tibetan culture is a culture of peace and non-violence: His Holiness."
His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed this positive view of the Tibetan culture at the Global Spa and Wellness Summit in Gurgaon on Sunday. At the beginning of his address the Dalai Lama shared that he believes that the 7 billion human beings alive today are all the same. All people he feels wish for happiness and all people have a right to achieve it.
While discussing wellness the Dalai Lama declared that having a compassionate attitude is the ultimate basis for living a happy life. The Dalai Lama went on to say that happiness is directly related to warm-heartedness, which he sees as being more important than having a brilliant brain.
Since several scientists the Dalai Lama has spoken to now acknowledge that having a happy mind is crucial to physical health, he proposes that in addition to physical hygiene we also need to cultivate a high sense of emotional hygiene. The stressing of these positive values by the Dalai Lama is helping to nurture much warm-heartedness among many people during these troubled times.
