Halloween is coming up. With around 2 weeks to go everyone is thinking candy. Halloween means chocolate, candy bars, sugar, and more sugar. So many of the candies and treats have dairy in them. so what to do if your child cant have dairy? There are a few options. If you have other children yours are trick or treating with maybe a swap can be worked out. Those that can have dairy swap for non dairy candy from their bags. Everyone still gets candy, some swapping takes place, children learn about helping others, sharing, and parents and children can be educated on food allergies. Giving friends the chance to step up and help can be a very good experience for them. If thats not an option you can buy candy your child likes thats dairy free, swap it yourself. You can dispose of the candy any way you choose. This may help keep your child from feeling out of place with friends.
Another option is to throw a Halloween Party, make the candy and treats! Your kids friends, their parents and your friends can come over. Listen to some Halloween music, answer the door to give out candy and treats. make them Dairy Free and let people know its out there and good. Watch movies or play games. If you have made the treats you know your child can relax and enjoy the holiday. No feeling left out, worries of eating the wrong thing, just fun.
