Phoenix is alive with the sound of music this Saturday afternoon; music encompasses three of the top ten trending topics. Specifically, the new album 'Watch the Throne' from rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West, the new song 'She Will' from rappers Lil Wayne and Drake, and the sad story of Jani Lane.
Jani Lane was born February 1st, 1964 and died August 11, 2011. Fans know him best as the lead singer for the heavy metal band 'Warrant'. He wrote and sang such favorites as 'Heaven' and 'Sometimes She Cries'. The band also produced fan favorite 'Cherry Pie' which hit number 7 on Billboard 200. He was 47 when he died in a Woodland Hills hotel. The autopsy was performed Friday August 12th and was inconclusive. Authorites are waiting on a toxicology report which can take 7-8 weeks. At this point no one is considering suicide but there is talk of succumbing to alcohol addiction. According to police reports there were prescription drugs and alcohol in the hotel room (read more on the story here). It is unfortunate that in today's day and age we are so starved for drama that the death of a great 80/90s icon becomes a hot topic on twitter for multiple days when he dies. The fortunate side is most of the tweets are tributes to him:

On a happier note, another hot topic in Phoenix is the album from Jay-Z and Kanye West; 'Watch the Throne' released August 8th. The first single on this album was released in January (H.A.M.). 'Otis' was released July 20th (you can watch the video to the left) and 'Lift Off' will be released August 23rd. The album will be promoted in a concert tour from October to December of this year. The album has mixed reviews, below are some of the comments being tweeted on Phoenix Twitter today.

Speaking of rap, Lil Wayne and Drake's new single 'She Will' is also trending as a hot topic on Phoenix Twitter today. The song is a little racy for this column but you can view it on youtube at this link. The new release hasn't had much positive or negative critiques.
