Daily thought: leadership

A leader guide's, initiates action by being the first to take the initiative, thinks outside the box, entertains and investigates the probable outcome of the various possibilities in any given situation.

Many people navigate life looking at leaders as different, special and almost super-human but the truth is, the only thing different from a leader and an "ordinary" person is that the leader will act upon what they feel is required to execute a task or be the essence of what they see as most efficient.

As an example, let us reflect on the way people dress...attire.

Many night clubs these days implement a dress code. It had been researched an determined by some leader somewhere who was trying to figure out how to operate a successful nightclub that did not show up on the local news weekly as the drama hot-spot of the week.

Some leader or leaders determined that when people are dressed a certain way, they are more likely to act a certain way- This is the essence of leadership, doing what works as a measure to increase the possibility of the best outcome; In the club example, getting people to remain professional and cordial is the best outcome of every evening.

Leaders are the first to attempt to make “it” happen, whatever “it” is. Confidence grows through leadership because leaders come to a point where they care less about what others think of their efforts.

Leaders fail and succeed. In attempting to make things happen and initiate outcomes, leaders often fail as being a leader often means much trial and error before success.

Confidence becomes inevitable as a direct result because leaders eventually grow into the acceptance of failure possibilities; Meaning, leaders initiate task without the security in knowing they will have success.

Leaders tend to navigate toward professionalism in attire and personality as it promotes self confidence and leaders need lots of it to beget the constant courage it requires to take the first step.

Anyone can choose to be a leader simply by taking the initiative.

If you work in a position that is considered lower level, you can start by meditating on what can be optimized or better. Thereafter, start throwing the ideas in the air and see if anyone catches it.

Your ideas may be ignored, laughed at or even seen as…arrogance as others wonder who gave you the audacity to think you can create, modify or have a great idea about something but don’t stop.

Keep pushing ideas in a non-pushy way. Have lunch with your boss and start tossing around ideas, as a leader, you will already be prepared for both possible outcomes of your suggestion.

Outcome #1 your idea is seen as genius and is accepted or option 2, your idea is ignored.

Maintain your leadership by always looking for the possible improvements some of which may merely be improvement of self as you may ask for training opportunities to optimize your abilities or suggestions on how you can improve.

With enough leadership acts you will become a leader and others will begin to see you as such.

Leadership is natural in all humans but esteem, lack of confidence or useless and rusted old memetic might get in your way.

One old and rusty memetic is the claim that at times there may be, “too many chiefs and not enough Indians” but just imagine a world where most everyone was a chief, society would graduate to the next level.

If everyone understood they are powerful, smart and capable, they would also come to respect those traits in others and they would not feel threatened by a world of “chiefs.”

Likewise, many may have a desire to be in the background of things but leadership is in everything and everywhere. Similarly, in a family, there may be one who takes more leadership outside the home while one takes more leadership within the home. It has taken centuries for humans to figure out that both roles are equally important and substantial.

Lead in any way you can.

Lead in every way you can.

Do you shy away or step to leadership. Share your thoughts, experience and/or opinion below or within email.
