Daily thought: BHM-Black woman who invented central heating

Alice Parker is the Black woman who invented the central heating system. In research, there is very little information about Alice Parker beyond the details of her invention.

Parker did have her work patented and documentation thereof is maintained at the United States Patent database. Patent no. -1325905 can be researched and reviewed at the following link: http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.htm

In research, be sure to view the section labeled, "specifications" located on the left side panel, for full reference.

Many patents are so old that they exist as an image only, be sure to click on image and navigate the left hand side bar to see document text and details.

The fact that details concerning historical women are usually hard to obtain opens up an array of topics that we will examine in future articles. Meanwhile, we honor Alice Parker during Black history month and forever more for her contribution to technology and humanity.
