Daily herb tip: plantain for diaper rash

Plantain (plantago major), much like the underestimated dandelion, is one of the most common plants in the world, and considered a weed by the general population.  Plantain has antiinflammatory and antiallergenic properties that make it useful for treating bites, stings, and rashes, including diaper rash -- sprinkle a few crushed fresh leaves in a dry diaper to help speed healing and reduce inflammation.

For more information about plantain, your local herbal shop: Apothecary Tinctura in Denver, Rebecca's Herbal Apothecary in Boulder.
