It is amazing what a new year can do for the mindset of people. However new this year may seem, a feeling of hurt remains for many people. So many things have happened in the United States and around the world to cause hurt, grief, sickness, and even stress and worry, that it would seem God does not care. God wants you to know he cares very much and is waiting to bless those who will come to him.
Did you know God has healing in his wings? “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth and grow up as calves of the stall.” (Malachi 4:2) Did you further know that he has already paid for your healing? “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.” (Psalm 103:3-6)
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) Jesus took all of our sickness that came into this world because of sin onto himself and therefore he paid for it all with his own death on the cross. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16)
Jesus not only took on himself our sickness and sin, but he also was oppressed. Yes you heard that right. “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:”(Isaiah 53:7a) Just as we can get oppressed by the devil and afflicted in our bodies, he took this on himself as well. He never sinned during this whole time of torment. So, the next time you feel oppressed or afflicted or sick, know Jesus died for this. He experienced everything we have or would have to go through under sin so we could be free from it. All that you have to do is believe God.
If he is the one, “who healeth all thy diseases” (Psalm 103:3b), then we need not be surprised when he gives us a way to exercise our faith in it. In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus instructed the 11 Disciples who also are called the Apostles to , “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
With this foundational understanding that the things Jesus instructed the Apostles to do are also for us today, we can rejoice when we see how God intended for us to see healing in our personal lives. We see at the end of the book of Mark that again it's recorded that Jesus spoke to the 11 Disciples/Apostles before he ascended to heaven, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:15-18)
Jesus lived out this example by laying his hands on the sick everywhere he went and healing them in the power of the Holy Spirit, and he delivered those who we were oppressed. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38). Jesus is our example, and this is what we are to do in obedience to him.
“Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12) This is an amazing truth that needs to be understood. You may be asking, “how can this be?” Jesus gives part of the answer in the next two verses. “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:13-14) Knowing Jesus as your Savior and having the Holy Ghost living inside of you is also part of this equation.
You can have a life free of things you have always taken for granted as “just things you accept”. God has more for you. If you have not experienced the Holy Ghost living inside of you, repent of your sins. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”(Romans 3:23) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior today and start living in the power of God. Jesus gave himself as an example for us and, oh, what a price he paid; he gave his life for his friends. Won't you dedicate your life to him and live life willing to “give it all” for Jesus?
His rewards surpass all we can think or imagine, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us.” (Ephesians 4:20). Jesus wants to do this abundant work in you and bring healing to your life. Won't you submit to him today?
