Famed electronic act Daft Punk premiered the music video for "Instant Crush" on Friday. In the heartbreaking clip, a pair of wax dolls falls in love while featured artist Julian Casablancas sings the track.
"Instant Crush" is one of the tracks on Daft Punk's hit album "Random Access Memories." The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas features on the song. His low croon is digitized throughout the electronic rock track as he sings over the gloomy, disco-tinged production.
Director Warren Fu tells the story of wax dolls in love and one happens to share Casablancas' likeness. There is no animation or camera tricks used. Fu knows how to make the audience feel for the romance between the inanimate objects. As their sad love story progress, Casablancas in his usual grunge getup sings "Instant Crush" in another room. The video is pretty simple yet it captures the emotion behind Daft Punk's single.
Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" was released back in May and it peaked at no. 1 on Billboard's albums chart.
