A representative has addressed the Daddy Yankee rumors and denies that the singer is gay. The Los Angeles Times reports on April 3 that the rumors are false. Daddy Yankee, a popular reggaeton rapper, has been the subject of multiple stories that claim he has been hiding his real sexual orientation.
Nevarez Communications and Perfect Partners released a statement on April 3 that denies the rumors about Daddy Yankee. The rumors started after the Puerto Rican singer was allegedly quoted as saying, “I am a human being like any other, with virtues and defects, and I don't believe that this is a defect.” Daddy Yankee’s representatives claim that this statement is a fake.
This is not the first time that Daddy Yankee has been the target of false rumors. In 2011, it was reported that he had died in a car crash, and fans had already started to grieve for the reggaeton star while Facebook and Twitter accounts dedicated to his passing appeared. However, it was quickly discovered this was a hoax and part of a trend that involved other celebrities.
Daddy Yankee has also responded to the rumors on his official Twitter account. He posted, “Me han matado, me han difamado y seguirán inventándose mil mierdas sobre mí en la red pero la realidad es solo una. [They have killed me, defamed me and continue inventing a thousand (expletives) about me on the net, but the reality is only one.]” He also assured his followers that he is enjoying his good health, stable family, ongoing success and millionaire status.
