When a dad wears shorts to try to teach his teen daughter a lesson, and pictures get posted online, it can make for one funny story that quickly goes viral. That's the case for Scott Mackintosh after his wife posted about it on her blog. People shared the details on Sept. 13.
The Utah dad went to what his daughter surely thought were extreme measures when she wouldn't chose a more modest pair of shorts for a family outing. Scott Mackintosh, a dad of seven, decided to go for embarrassment and shock rather than a battle with his teen Myley. He went and made some cut-offs out of his jeans and added a t-shirt with the screenprint “Best. Dad. Ever.” and headed out the door.
At first Myley didn't give him much of a reaction. Mackintosh took the family to dinner, then miniature golf, then even ice cream, and eventually 19-year-old Myley refused to get out of the car. Myley posted the photos of her dad on her Tumblr page, and the dad wearing short shorts has become a nationwide sensation.
Mackintosh has shared additional details on his wife's blog, since he feels Myley didn't present things quite accurately. He writes about how he is a firm believer in dressing modestly, and when Myley said she wouldn't change into longer shorts he decided “to make a 'small' statement on how her short-shorts maybe aren't as 'cute' as she thinks!” He says Myley didn't notice the dad wearing short shorts as the family left, as she had her eyes on her phone. He may not have intended to hit the town for the family evening out in the shorts, but he was determined to make his point.
Reactions online to the dad wearing short shorts has been fully supportive and comical. Many say that his t-shirt is fully reflective of their opinion of him, and he made an important point in a fun way. Has his daughter Myley learned anything from it all? That much remains uncertain, but this dad wearing shorts likely gave many other parents a few ideas.
