In the early morning hours on Sunday, Feb. 17, a 25-year-old dad and his 2-year-old son were awakened by the sound of three armed intruders breaking into their home in the Prospect area in Prince Edward County, VA. The young father was forced to protect his family when the intruders opened fire on him, according to a report by CBS 6 WTVR.
When the father heard the loud crashing of the three intruders breaking into the home, he quickly grabbed his handgun, then the father and the intruders exchanged gunfire which lasted less than a minute. The father shot and killed two of the intruders, but the third got away. Police believe that the third man escaped in a vehicle parked nearby, although police did use search dogs to try to find him.
The identities of all the involved parties have not been released. However, the father states that his family will no longer stay in the home out of fear that the third intruder will return.
With NBC’s weeklong series “investigating” “gun violence” in America, which exploits deaths that occurred over a weekend in January in an attempt to gain acceptance for gun control, the Little Rock Gun Rights Examiner has started its own series in an effort to help show that guns not only take lives, they very often save them. The series will highlight 30 days of guns saving lives. This is story number seven.
