An unidentified 35-year-old father from Daytona Beach, Florida, walked into his house in the early morning hours of July 18 to find 18-year-old Raymond Frolander of Holly Hill allegedly raping the man’s 11-year-old son. Before the dad called the cops or dialed 911, he beat Frolander to a bloody pulp, leaving him unconscious and in a puddle of his own blood.
When the 911 operator got the call, the irate dad told the dispatcher, “I just walked in on a grown man molesting ... and I got him in a bloody puddle for you officer,” according to The Daytona Beach News Journal . The 911 operator asked the father if any weapons were involved, to which the dad replied “my foot and my fist.” The father proceeded to politely inform the dispatcher that he didn’t ask Frolander any questions before knocking him out and dragging him out to the living room.
When the dispatcher asked if the suspect was injured, the dad said that he sincerely believed he was in need of help. “Send an ambulance. He is going to need one,” the father said.
“He stood up and his pants were around his ankles and nothing else needed to be said,” the father told the dispatcher. “I did whatever I got a right to do except I didn’t kill him.”
Chief Mike Chitwood with the Daytona Beach Police Department said that the father was just being a dad. The righteous father was not charged by police for delivering the beatdown.
Police arrived at the man’s Daytona Beach home at approximately 1:07 a.m. Friday. Cops found Frolander lying unconscious and motionless on the floor. Frolander’s arrest report described the suspect as having “several knots on his face and was bleeding from the mouth.” The dad told police he walked into the house as Frolander was sexually battering his son.
“Dad was acting like a dad. I don’t see anything we should charge the dad with,” Chitwood said. “You have an 18-year-old who has clearly picked his target, groomed his target and had sex with the victim multiple times.”
Chitwood added that Frolander lived next door to his young victim and was previously treated as a trusted family member. Frolander was treated at Halifax Health Medical Center for his injuries and later admitted to police that he was indeed guilty of sexually battering the child.
The child told investigators that he was playing video games with friends but after the friends left, Frolander asked the boy to sit in his lap and then took him to a back room, the report states.
Frolander then pulled the boy’s pants down and started sexually battering him, the boy told police, adding that Frolander had been abusing him since he was 8 years old, investigators said.
ABC News reported that Frolander was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail where he was being held without bail. He was charged with “sexual battery by an 18-year-old on a victim under 12.” For more on the story, see the video accompanying this article.
