“The Fall from Heaven” is the May 10 episode of “Da Vinci’s Demons.” Reminder: this article has spoilers, so read at your own risk. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more quotes from the episode. “Da Vinci’s Demons” airs Saturday nights at 8 p.m. CT on STARZ.

Lorenzo and Ippolita spend some time together. The most exciting thing about this storyline is that it shows us that Ippolita isn’t just a hopelessly still in love with Lorenzo. In previous episodes, that is all that has really come across. Yes, we still see her trying to convince Lorenzo to be with her, but we also see her scheming. She sets in motion a great plan that ends up earning Lorenzo the favor of the King of Naples. This storyline made Ippolita a lot more interesting, likable, and a more developed character.

Hello glorious Riario backstory! This is a fantastic episode for him. We actually know very little about him, and it is great that he is opens up to Leo. It would not have been so strange, given these past couple episodes, if Riario shared his past with Nico instead. Having Leo be the one who hears it is great because Riario is trying to help Leo make the right decision. Riario’s backstory is heartbreaking as is his loss of faith. What will be interesting to see is how Riario acts back in Florence. What do you think he will do?

Lucrezia’s plan officially makes zero sense. Bayezid gets embarrassed at the Vatican, and is cast out of the city without his clothes and without a way to get home other than walking. The only possible plan I can think of, is for the treatment of Bayezid to spur the Ottoman Empire into enacting revenge. This doesn’t help Lucrezia’s father at all though. The writers really need to clear this up some because her storyline this episode was boring and confusing. Do you have any theories on the master plan at work?

I honestly can’t decide if I like the twist that the Book of Leaves isn’t in the Vault of Heaven. It definitely poses a lot of questions. Leo’s mom said she was betrayed, so the question is by whom, and considering Ima implied that Leo’s mom never left the vault, did she escape the same way Leo did? Somehow she fooled everyone into thinking that the book was still in the vault. Also, why does looking for the book mean that Leo can’t keep looking for his mom? Right now this twist is confusing, but it has potential for intrigue. What are your thoughts on the twist?

What did you think of the episode? It looks like we won’t see Ima again. Will you miss her? Should Leo continue to search for the Book of Leaves or shift focus on finding his mother? Leave me your thoughts in a comment below.
