You have many choices when it comes to hearing live music outdoors in Milwaukee when things heat up around here.
There's Summerfest, of course, State Fair, myriad church festivals, parks, bandshells, parking lots and patios.
But there is something special about 'Da Roof.'
On a few select Tuesdays during the summer, The Milwaukee Athletic Club (www.macwi.org), 758 North Milwaukee Street, opens up its doors and -- more to the point -- its roof for live music.
Just press 12 on the elevator, walk up to the'13th floor' and prepare to be transformed.
First, the view of the Cream City's skyline from there is breathtaking.
It's right up there with the best panoramas in the city.
There are comestibles.
There are libations.
Then, there's the Kris Crow Band.
Crow refers to it as his All-Star Band and it is not hyperbole, a stretch or an exaggeration.
Besides Crow's prowess on the acoustic and his voice, the fabulous Joy Bach makes the trek north from Chi-town to lend her sultry vocals to the fray.
Sprinkle in the great Joe Hite on keys, the wicked-hot rhythm of Alan Arber on drums, the incredible sax work of Peter Neumer, Joe Gorman on guitar and Rudy Zee on bass and you have yourself a show that's not to be missed.
You may be familiar with these players as they keep popping up in bands like Alter Ego and 52nd Street to name a few.
This is a high-octane show from beginning to end with fabulous covers of your favorite Classic Rock, R & B, Funk, Pop songs and much more.
These events are purportedly done for this summer.
But, there are rumors that they may add one more in September.
If this does, indeed, happen, plan on making your way there. You won't be disappointed.
If not, there's always next year.
