Da Brat: Injured cheerleader gets huge payment from Da Brat

Da Brat is ordered to pay $6.4 million to former Atlanta Falcons cheerleader, Shayla Stevens. Hollywood Life reported Feb. 28 that a civil suit against Shawntae “Da Brat” Harris concluded Feb. 27.

In a decision by the jury, the former hip-hop star is to pay Stevens $3.7 million dollars for lost and future earnings and $2.7 millions dollars for punishment after smashing a bottle of rum on her face. The incident happened in 2007 at producer Jermaine Durpi's Studio 72 nightclub. Da Brat spent three years in jail after pleading guilty for aggrivated assault. She also did 200 hours of community service, and had seven years probation after she pled guilty.

Lifelong injuries resulted from the cheerleader's assault at the hands of the hip-hop star. Da Brat's attorney tried reducing the amount she was ordered to pay, but Stevens' attorney said she has a lifelong scar on her face and suffered brain damage.

What do you think of this decision in the De Brat case? Was it fair?
