On Jan. 30, Disney’s D23: The Official Disney Fan Club released content information about its spring issue of its magazine, Disney twenty-three. The upcoming issue includes material of interest to fans of the Disney Parks.
April 22 of this year marks the 15th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the fourth major theme park at Walt Disney World Resort (WDW) in Orlando, Fla. In celebration of this milestone anniversary, Disney twenty-three will publish its article featuring Imagineer Joe Rohde, the park’s lead designer. Rohde will discuss the park’s evolution.
The magazine’s spring coverage of Disney Parks also devotes space to New Fantasyland. An article offers D23 readers and future theme-park guests a look at some of the details and secrets that can be discovered in the Magic Kingdom expansion.
In its coverage of the Disney Parks, the magazine will feature a profile of the Arribas brothers. The work of these master glass craftsmen may be found in 14 Disney park locations around the world, including at WDW and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.
To complement the magazine’s article on Rohde's look at Disney's Animal Kingdom, D23’s online coverage will include an “off-road tour” of Kilimanjaro Safaris, the park’s popular wildlife attraction, given by the head zookeeper.
D23 covers all things Disney, and the magazine’s spring issue includes news from other divisions of the company. Disney twenty-three’s cover story focuses on “Oz The Great and Powerful” as the movie nears its March release date. D23 will offer complementary online feature to the feature, a Q & A with Brian Henson about his 1985 movie, “Return to Oz.”
Other stories include a sneak peek of the live-action movie “Maleficent,” which stars Angelina Jolie; concept art for the animated “Frozen’” and a look at puppeteer Bob Baker’s long history with Disney.
Disney twenty-three’s spring issue will be released Feb. 12. It will be available at locations throughout Walt Disney World and Disneyland, as well as at the Disney Store and at select retail locations across the country.
