D23: The Official Disney Fan Club offers its second year of Disney Fanniversary events in 2013, literally taking its show “on the road” as D23 travels to 10 cities across the country in March and April.
D23’s Disney Fanniversary events are regional affairs commemorating some of the company’s milestones across its divisions. The presentations enable fans to enjoy a Disney experience a little closer to home.
These 90-minute shows are steeped in Disney history and offer a look at some of the works and experiences that make Disney “Disney.” Hosted by a Disney archivist and D23 Team member, Fanniversary events feature behind-the-scenes stories. They offer attendees the chance to experience rarely or never-before-seen film footage, concept art, photography, and exclusive interviews with Disney Legends and other personalities.
D23's Fanniversary events celebrate "all things Disney"
This year, D23’s Disney Fanniversary Celebration offers the following:
D23 will lead guests on a journey through dozens of unforgettable Disney moments that have delighted generations of Disney fans, including beloved movies like “Peter Pan,” Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” and the first “Pirates of the Caribbean” film; classic characters like Mickey Mouse and Chip ‘n’ Dale; favorite attractions and entertainment spectaculars at Disney parks such as Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Horizons, and Mickey’s Toontown; the openings of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland, the launch of The Disney Channel; the first voyage of Disney Cruise Line; and the momentous founding of The Walt Disney Company in, of course, 1923.
Events also include the opportunity for guests to mingle after the presentation, and will display an item from the Walt Disney Archives.
In 2013, D23's Disney Fanniversary Celebration is scheduled to visit Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Newark, N.J., Boston and Seattle.
But it is the Disney Fanniversary at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. that is expected to be one of 2013's most popular events. D23 is holding two shows at the Atlantic Dance Hall located on Disney’s BoardWalk on Friday, March 8. The first show will start at 10 a.m. and the other begins at 2.30 p.m., EST.
D23's Disney Fanniversary Celebration tickets go on sale Feb. 5 to members, Feb. 12 to general public
Tickets to the various Disney Fanniversary events go on sale to D23 members in good standing on Feb, 5 at 10 a.m., PST. D23 members can purchase two tickets each, one for themselves and one for a guest. The remaining General Admission tickets will be available, if there are any left, starting Feb. 12 at 10 a.m., PST.
Update, Feb. 12: General public tickets are now available to Disney Fanniversary events.
D23’s Disney Fanniversary tickets cost $21 for D23 Members (and their guest), and $35 for general admission. Parking is not included in the price.
Disney fans, take note: Like many D23 events, Fanniversary presentations tend to be quite popular. In 2012, most events sold out quickly. Interested guests should be prepared to purchase tickets on the first day possible.
