On March 26, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club released information about its Walt Disney World event to take place this fall. D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind will offer its members two days of presentations, panels, exhibits and activities to celebrate the Disney of yesteryear, including a look at the company’s participation in the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair.
D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind, presented by H2O Plus, will take will take place Nov. 22 – 23 at Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney archivists, Imagineers, Legends, and luminaries attend the two-day event, providing expert and insider looks at retired Disney fan favorites such as Adventure Thru Inner Space, If You Had Wings, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. In addition to the speakers, Destination D will offer Disney fans the chance to see rare concept art and images and vintage video clips; and to hear inside and behind-the-scenes stories.
Destination D also includes full day of presentations dedicated to the 1964–65 New York World’s Fair, which debuted iconic Disney attractions like it’s a small world and Carousel of Progress.

D23 announced its initial list of presenters and panelist, including Disney Legends Marty Sklar, Bob Gurr, and Alice Davis; Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline; Disney and World’s Fair historians Bill Cotter, Stacia Martin, and Michael Kelley.
As with previous events, D23 will host a special exhibit designed by the Walt Disney Archives for Destination D.
New to 2014 Destination D at Walt Disney World will be a pop-up shop for Mickey’s of Glendale, the Walt Disney Imagineering store. It will carry a limited selection of exclusive Imagineering merchandise, limited-edition pins, T-shirts, and collectibles themed to the event. The shop also will have special line from H2O Plus, which many Disney fans will recognize as the bath and beauty products featured at Disney Resort Hotels.
D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind includes evening at Pleasure Island
Destination D also includes some special entertainment celebrating Walt Disney World Resort’s past. Fans of the former Pleasure Island – the Downtown Disney district officially closed in 2008 – may be interested in to know the weekend will be capped off by Pleasure Island: Rewind. D23 bills this experience as a “celebration of the Downtown Disney nightlife district.” D23's press release also notes the experience will feature areas dedicated to the Adventurers Club, Comedy Warehouse, Mannequins, and 8 Trax as well as a “New Year’s Eve” celebration that recalls the spirit of Pleasure Island’s nightly send-off.
While details have not yet been released about Pleasure Island: Rewind, it is expected that the celebration will include some of the signature entertainment elements that made the Downtown Disney area so appealing to adults.
The D23 Destination D: Attraction Rewind weekend will take place in the convention center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, at its convention center. Tickets for D23 Gold and Silver Members (paid memberships) will go on sale Wednesday, April 16, and cost $190 each. Members may reserve tickets for themselves and up to three guests.
Any remaining tickets will be made available to D23 Free Members on May 28, for $250 per ticket. All guests will receive a special gift in honor of Disney’s contributions to the 50th anniversary of the 1964–65 World’s Fair in New York City.
In addition, D23 will sell a limited number of “Top of the World” tickets, priced at $1000 each. “Top of the World” guests will receive reserved seating; early shopping at Mickey’s of Glendale on Nov. 21; an exclusive evening that includes a presentation during a private viewing of Carousel of Progress and a dinner reception and viewing of the Electrical Water Pageant; special collectibles, gifts from H2O Plus and Ghirardelli Chocolate Company; and more. “Top of the World” guests may purchase two tickets, one for themselves and one for a guest.
Guests attending the Destination D event will also be able, for a limited time, to reserve discounted hotel rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, and purchase discounted Walt Disney World Resort theme park tickets.
