Today a D.C. man set himself on fire at the Washington Mall. On Oct. 4, LA Times reported a man outside of the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall set himself on fire and then people near him used their shirts to put out the fire.
The man has not been identified at this time and he was taken to a hospital by helicopter. The grass was even on fire, but luckily the building ended up being just fine. One person who was on vacation saw it happen. She said that the man did not appear to be moving before they took him away so hopefully he will end up being okay. People who saw it happen said the entire thing seemed to last about 15 to 20 minutes.
At this time, police are saying that the man did set himself on fire, but they are not explaining why. There are no updates on his condition at this time but hopefully those will come out soon as this story updates.
