A D.C. man on fire, is what police found when they responded to a call on Friday afternoon at the National Mall. Witnesses say a man poured gasoline over his head and then lit himself on fire, according to CBS News on Oct. 4.
The man was seen by witnesses taking a canister of gasoline and emptying it by pouring it over his head. He then set himself on fire. The man involved in the incident has been flown to a hospital, police report.
The man was “conscious and breathing” when rescuers arrived, but he had “life threatening injuries.” This incident happened in the area of 7th Street and Jefferson Drive at around 4:30 on Friday afternoon.
The man’s name and age was not given out, but what is known is that his injuries were severe enough that he was taken by helicopter to a hospital.
Washington D.C. has been the scene of some horrific incidents in the last two days. First the woman who led police on a high-speed chase through the nation’s capital left police with a difficult decision when it came to stopping her.
Not knowing what to expect from this driver they had to stop her, especially after running down a police officer. She wouldn't heed the warnings to get out of the car and she had her one-year-old baby with her.
The high-speed chase broke out after the woman tried to break through the White House gate. She lost her life after police opened fire at her car following a long and grueling chase. Now a man stands on the National Mall today and reportedly sets himself on fire.
The police in D.C. have had more than their fair share of bizarre crime in the last two days.
