D’Angelo makes a comeback at the BET Awards 2012

R&B crooner D’Angelo finally returned to the stage on Sunday, as he gave his first TV performance in over 12 years at the BET Awards 2012. Performing on the same stage as newer artists like Charles Perry and Elle Varner, D’Angelo felt almost like a throwback to “new-old school” R&B.

On Sunday, D’Angelo hit the stage silhouetted by spotlights. He performed arguably his biggest hit, “How Does It Feel,” as women screamed from the audience. And although D’Angelo hasn’t performed on TV in over a decade, he hasn’t stopped performing across the country—and even the world. It was only six months ago, in fact, that D’Angelo performed “How Does It Feel” in Paris.

At the BET Awards 2012, D’Angelo also hit the piano to show off his versatility as an artist. D’Angelo, who performed after newer music stars like Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, is reportedly working on a new album entitled “James River.”

It was clear from his performance that the audience has been starved for D’Angelo’s music. During his set, artists like Common and Beyonce stood out of her seats to nod their heads and dance.

D’Angelo’s BET Awards 2012 performance isn’t yet available to watch online, but in the meantime, watch his recent performance of “How Does It Feel” in Paris from earlier this year.
