Czann's Taproom officially opens today
The long awaited grand opening of the taproom at Czann's Brewery is officially set for today, June 19, at 4:00 p.m. Ken Rebman, the one man operation that is Czann's Brewing Company, has almost single-handedly built the operation from scratch, and did the same with the taproom. Originally set to open earlier in spring, it is easy to forgive the delay in opening.
Because of the small size of the building as a whole, the taproom is a small, intimate, true tasting room. With very tall ceilings, the drywall was the one trade that was contracted out. Ken did the rest, including building a beautiful bar top, and even building a beer cooler.
The keg to tap equipment is all top of the line Micromatic, and all the splicers, couplers, faucets, connectors, basically everything that comes in contact with the beer, is 100% stainless steel. There is not even any brass plated equipment. The intention is to have up to six taps at any one time, but Ken wanted to start out with four handles, and build up to the six as seasonals are added.
At a private, invitation only soft opening last night, and handful of lucky guests were treated to Czann's Blond, Pale, and I.P.A. Beers. All the beers are true to style and very approachable. That odd sort of craft beer phrase generally just means that a newcomer to craft beer will find something they like, as will a true craft beer drinker. I am a fan of big, west coast I.P.A. Beers, but Czann's is very well balanced with a nice hoppy finish.
This brings the Nashville Brewery District up to four fully operational tasting rooms at all four of these great breweries. There is also news of a fifth brewery opening in the Brewery District later this year, but they are not prepared to make any announcements just yet. Most important, for today, is Czann's, which is located at 505 Lea, at Fifth, just north of Lafayette. Pop in, say hi to Ken and his new taproom staff, and enjoy a great, fresh, local craft beer.
Time for a pint. Cheers!
