When you're talented your gifts definitely make room for you, and that is exactly what has been happening over the past decade for Actress Gabrielle Dennis.
Realizing her love of acting in the 4th grade, she began attending performing arts school. Now you've seen her on hit television shows like BET's The Game and FX's Justified as well as movies like Bring It On: Fight to the Finish and He's Mine Not Yours. Regardless of what type of character she is bringing to life, you can expect Dennis to approach each project with the best of herself.
On May 1st you will be able to see her along with the rest of the cast of the romantic comedy BLACK COFFEE on BET. In the film Dennis plays Morgan, an individual who after meeting Robert (played by Darrin Dewitt Henson), is beginning to think that she can have something real and lasting with a man she can trust again.Just as things start to heat up between them, trouble brews as Morgan’s ex-husband played by Lamman Rucker) vows to get her back and Robert’s gold-digging ex-girlfriend (played by Erica Hubbard) returns with an agenda of her own.
"I feel very blessed and fulfilled in my work because I truly have a passion for what I do," Dennis told me. "Being able to share what I love with others is very rewarding when they express their appreciate for the roles I've done and projects I've been in. In fact, I thank all the people who have supported me through social media, left comments and reviews on the internet, and who have given me the warmest and most kind compliments on the street. These are the nice perks of doing what I do. I can never say that I have a 'thankless job'."
What drew Dennis to the movie BLACK COFFEE? "Anytime I can play a positive role in a positive film with a positive cast and crew, I'm there," she explained. "The script's inspirational messages also played a huge role in my decision, because I think we need more movies that not only entertain but also plant seeds of motivation and purpose. Based on the feedback from those who have seen the movie, BLACK COFFEE did just that."
BLACK COFFEE premieres on BET Thurs. May 1st @ 9:30p.m. et/8:30p.m. ct., and Dennis believes it will give you everything you could want from a great movie and more. "I hope viewers are touched," she says. "I hope viewers laugh. I hope viewers can relate to some or all of the story and find inspiration that they can carry over in their personal and or professional lives. And if people are moved by the messages (finding your purpose in life, keeping money in the community, etc), I hope they stay motivated beyond the end credits."
