Cyrus the bloodhound 'searching' for new home: Alabama animal shelter closing

"I sing like a bloodhound, and I want to be adopted," croons Cyrus.
Humane Society of Escambia County

The Humane Society of Escambia in Flomaton, Alabama will be closing its doors on August 31. All of the dogs need to find homes or be transferred by that date.

Meet Cyrus, who is a beautiful two-year-old exuberant bloodhound mix. Guaranteed to sniff out some treats and described as gentle and kind, Cyrus was gifted with the melodic howl reserved for his special breed. This one of a kind youngster's adoption will include his vaccinations and deworming. At the current time, Cyrus is being treated for heartworms which is included in his adoption fee.

Please don't stop reading yet; here is special needs Gertrude who has been in foster care, but needs to find a permanent home as soon as possible. She is approximately seven-years-old and is currently living in a home with other dogs, two cats and small children. Gertrude is low energy and, although she cannot walk on her own, she has a customized cart and is a delightful girl to live with. She is very undemanding and simply wants to be loved.

Call 251-296-2275 or email if you would like to help or if you would like an adoption application sent to you. Adoption fees are $75 and do include a spay/neuter. The shelter will be adding more pictures as they become available and will be updating each dog's picture description as they get adopted or pulled.
