Cynthia Bailey's husband Peter Thomas says he has no problem paying his rent

Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas may be in a financial mess again. According to an article posted on the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) on Wednesday, Feb. 19, Peter has been sued for nonpayment of rent by Eloshua Elliott and Showtime Cafe on his Bar One property and the space from which his wife runs The Bailey Agency, both of which are frequently seen on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." The landlord claims that Peter owes more than $100,000.

Peter has responded to the lawsuit, telling the AJC that he has no issue with paying his rent. For the Bar One property, he claims that one of the landlords, Showtime Cafe, had been taking his rent money for a year but not using it to pay the bank for the mortgage, so since March of 2013, he has been putting his rent payments in escrow with his attorney until Showtime Cafe straightened things out with its bank.

"I’ve been caught in the middle of the crossfire,” he said.

As for Industry Space, which houses Cynthia's The Bailey Agency, he said that he's paying the bank directly instead of the landlord Eloshua Elliott. He added that the bank has no issue with him and that he has spent more than $120,000 on improvements on the property.

“I don’t owe them anything,” he said.

The lawyer for Eloshua Elliott says she has no knowledge of any rent money in escrow and rent being paid directly to the bank. She's hoping to lease out both properties to others soon.

Viewers of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" have seen Peter Thomas and Cynthia Bailey struggle with their finances ever since they joined the show. They had to close his previous business venture, Uptown Restaurant and Lounge, because of financial problems and almost couldn't pay for their wedding.

There certainly are a lot of unanswered questions regarding this lawsuit! Hopefully, Peter really does have the rent straitened out and this is news that won't throw Cynthia, whose birthday is today, for a loop.
