Thursday Night Lights!
What a cool way to spend a Summer night. This Thursday night, August 29, come out to Troy NY's Prospect Park for NYCROSS.com's grass crit series of Thursday Night Lights racing. What is it? Damned if i know. What i do know is the plan is to have three races held on a grassy, relatively flat section of Prospect Park, few turns, no barriers, no single track, just fast elbow to elbow racing on the grass and all lit up with those light towers used for night time road construction. There is the promise of music (live or otherwise) and food. Bring your cross bike and your favorite beverage to share. This can be nothing but nuts! Its new, exciting, and truly unique.
Kirkland CX: Just south of Utica, NY, this race venue has it all. Grassy knolls, descents into the woods on some fast double track, a trip through some lag sapping sand, and a tricky run-up that requires navigating some tree roots. The folks at MVBC put on a great race with great prizes. Its an easy drive from the Capital Region or any where else within NYS. The expert folks from Bike Loft will be providing neutral bike support and bike wash stations are available.
This is the first race in the NYCROSS.com Cyclocross Series p/b VOmax.
New England News:
The Green Mountain Cyclocrosss Weekend in Williston VT is a popular opener for the New England Series. Held on the side of a grassy mountain at the Catamount Ski Center, make sure you have your climbing legs for this race. Great course, awesome venue with killer views, bring the Family for a nice weekend vacation...
Some of New England's biggest races can fill up fast. Providence already has over 600 entrants. Register early or you can get closed out.
Gloucester will open for registration on Wednesday, August 28 at 1 PM. Gloucester was on the verge of being shut out of Stage Fort Park in Gloucester due to local resident complaints. Just within the last week or so, organizers and the Town were able to come to an agreement in which organizers were required to post a $10,000 bond to cover damages to the park that allowed the popular race to return to Stage Fort Park.

These are grass roots gatherings, open to all who want to practice cyclocross, want to train for races, and to have fun. All teams, clubs and all non-club members are welcome.
