Cycling in your city.

As spring slowly descends upon the city of Louisville, the lure of the outdoors is not far from everyone's minds. Those ready to step out of their gloomy office and into the world of summer are nothing short of numerous opportunities, particular those who enjoy travel and recreation on two wheels!

Louisville as a whole is making a great effort at offering a biker friendly environment for those around the community. One of these initiatives is the Louisville Loop Trail aimed at providing more than one-hundred miles of paved road ways, stretching from Southern Indiana, to surrounding Kentucky counties. To date, this project is a quarter of the way complete and has been successful in creating more than twenty-five miles of currently paved roadways, equipped for bikers, runners, rollerblading, and many other forms of recreational transportation. The completed twenty-five miles extends presently from downtown Louisville to Riverside, at the Farnsley-Moreman Landing.

Although parts of Louisville are still working to promote biker friendly communities and promote awareness on the roads, the city has taken great steps in successfully creating bike lanes and recreation areas for bikers in the recent years. Cycling maps or bike path maps are readily available on the internet and in local bike shops and outdoor stores. Biking is a great way to get out and see the city that you live in, and help promote good health and activity, while enjoying the outdoors all at the same time.
