Whether a serious cyclist or a casual bike-rider, the Cycle South Carolina 2010 tour offers recreation, history, and Southern cuisine. The entire Cycle South Carolina 2010 event lasts from June 13th through June 18th, but each day has it's own location, entertainment, and food scheduled. The Cycle South Carolina tour has very reasonable prices- the registration and meal fee is more than worth a day or two spent exploring the area around Charleston. The furthest point from Charleston explored will be Sumter, which is only 100 miles away. The focused area of this event allows for a day trip to one of the overnight stops or for a few days spent exploring the Lowcountry.
On Saturday, June 12th, the tour will be starting in Charleston. Tour information and historical site information is being provided by Cycle South Carolina. The tour is stopping at Mount Pleasant that evening for dinner. St. Stephen is hosting the second day of the tour, June 13th. Along with the nature trails and cypress gardens to explore, there will be an entire program that night covering the history of the area.
Sumter will be the layover location, on June 14th and 15th. There will be downtown walking tours of Sumter, an opera house tour, and Iris Gardens tours for participants to enjoy during these two days. The 16th of June brings the tour to Orangeburg. Guided tours of the gardens and wetlands will be available to participants. Walterboro will be the final stop on June 17th. Not only are there a plethora of historical sites to visit, but Walterboro is hosting a real Southern Lowcountry Boil for dinner that evening, a must-try for anyone visiting the Lowcountry.
The Cycle South Carolina event allows for the participants to not only see the Lowcountry area around Charleston, but to get a taste of the scenery and nature that makes up the local habitat. With Southern cuisine set out for each stop, historical sites and shopping, and entertainment, Cycle South Carolina gives a glimpse into the daily life- both past and present- of a few select Lowcountry towns.
