Cyberbullying can happen to your child

Kim Resende speaking about the dangers of the internet and children.

You hear about cyberbullying, but can it really happen to your children?  Yes it can and you need to be very aware of it.

On Monday, May 24 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Patchogue at 7pm, Kim Resende will be speaking about cyberbullying.  Kim is a high school teacher with 18 years of experience.  This is a passionate subject for her because she knows first hand about the dangers of children and the internet.

Cyberbullying is happening more frequently and to younger kids.  Do you think your children are safe just because they are not on Facebook?  They are not.  There are many different and new ways that children are being bullied and embarrassed on-line and with cell phones.

Kim's presentation will help families navigate the cyber-world together.  It is for parents, but is also geared toward children over the age of 7 years old.  So you are encouraged to bring your kids with you.  There is also no charge for this event.  Subjects that will be covered are instant messaging, social networking sites, email, on-line gaming, bash boards, on-line polls, Bluetooth bullying, impersonation, happy slapping, sexting, images and videos.
