Cyber Expert and Author comes to St. Johns County: Free event (Photos)

Community Empowerment Series final event will be their largest!

Whether you are 8 years-old or 80, if you have a keypad or a cell phone you will have to make plans to attend on Saturday, April 27th at Nease High School to hear Theresa Payton.

What will you learn?

  • Internet safety from a leading cyber security expert: Theresa Payton is listed as one of the top 25 most influential people in online security and was Chief Information Officer (CIO) from 2006-2008.
  • Cyber bully: Is your child a victim of a cyber bully, or being a bully? What are steps you can take if you are being stalked or bullied online.
  • Online identity theft: This is fast and growing crime. Theresa Payton will hand out tips to protect you and your kids to secure your cyberspace.
  • Cell phone safety: From sexting to texting, how to keep you and your kids safe.

Theresa Payton will also be available for a meet and greet and copies of her book will be on sale. Protecting Your Online Identity, is a fantastic book for everyone that uses the Internet.

Doors open at 9:00am and the session starts at 10:00am and goes until noon. Meet and greet is 12:00pm - 1:00pm. Sheriff Shoar will be introducing Theresa Payton and his team from the cyber crime unit will have a table available with officers there to answer questions for our community residents.

There will be other exhibitor tables from our local community. We will also have raffles for a variety of great prizes for the audience.
