Today, whether you are cyber-dating or using a high-priced "Man of the Month" club, you need an expert in your corner. Imagine this combination: one from the world of love and one from the halls at Harvard! Julie Spira is making a match between love and science this week-end and doing an entire segment on her radio show on virtual dating. Spira's featured guest will be Associate Professor Michael I. Norton from the Harvard Business School.
The secret to online dating success, say love coaches, is to be yourself and say what you mean rather than trying to match your profile to the Adonis with the blue eyes who says “Casual relationship.” Adonis means what he says and he will never give you a diamond or babies. Women know this intuitively, but oftentimes take a chance. It leads to heartbreak. In the world of lovedotcom intuition and friends are simply not enough to help with decision-making.
Advice from CyberDating Expert- Julie Spira
To get some first-hand advice for readers looking for love, I talked with Julie Spira. She is listed by the Fast Company in the Top 100 Most Influential People in Social Media in their November 1st, 2010 issue. It seems that this Los Angeles Dating Advice Examiner is sprinkling her magic dust to make love happen. Here are some quick tips:
“Be authentic. With over 500 million members on Facebook, if your online dating profile photo looks ten years younger than the party photos you’ve uploaded to Facebook, your date will realize you’re a fraud.
“A picture says a thousand words. If you don’t post a photo, you’ll reduce your chance for success. Too many photos? You’ll appear overwhelming. I suggest posting 3-5 shots and don’t forget the full-length photo. Without it, a man assumes you’re hiding something.
“Avoid Clichés. Some of the top ones include, love to laugh, enjoy romantic beach walks, and I’m comfortable in jeans and a gown. These sayings are overused and won’t make you stand out in the crowded digital playing field.
“Use spell check. Just as you’d make sure your business resume doesn’t have typos in it, you need to use the same techniques for your online dating profile. After all, a job may last a year or two these days. Hopefully your relationship will last a lifetime.”
She added: “Always remember to cast a wide net. You might not be meeting The one but you can expand your social network, business network, and perhaps he might have a friend he could introduce you to.”
Dating and mating
With online dating and mating all the rage, women owe it to themselves to know exactly what it is they are looking for in a companion and have the courage to say so.
