After a controversial but successful June event, Coastal Wrestling Federation returns to the La Marque National Guard Armory this Saturday night for "Summer Sizzler." Fans will see TNA stars in action as well as several championship matches.
Headlining the event will be stars of TNA "Impact Wrestling," Robbie E. and Houston's own Brooke Tessmacher, as they will be teaming up to face Barbi Hayden and former NWA North American Champion, Carson. Both Robbie and Carson have battled each other all over Texas in the last few months, so this will no doubt be an exciting match for fans to see.
There is also a list of championship matches on the menu at "Summer Sizzler." CWF Heavyweight Champion Lance Beretta is set to face "Sexy" Steve Demarco, in a rematch from their brutal encounter back in January. A number of rematches have been scheduled since that night, but both have traded spots on the injured list this year and it had been postponed until now. One person on the outside looking in is "The Hebrew Phenom" David Stahr, who is enraged over being left out of consideration.
During Thursday night's "Fever Keeps It Real" radio broadcast on BlogTalkRadio, Stahr announced that he would make sure that match didn't take place. He was in April's "BattleZone" battle royal, finishing the match having survived well over 40 minutes, and is dead set to stake his claim at the title.
The CWF International Championship will also be decided, as current champion Slam Shady defends the gold against longtime rival "The Arab Legend' Al Farat. In Farat's corner will be Total Domination's mouthpiece, "The Heartthrob" Phillip Barnard. During their match in June at "CoastalMania V," Farat unleashed a fireball to the face of Shady, doing significant damage to him. Farat and his manager were both fined for what happened, but the concern lays with the current champion. Nobody has heard from Shady since then, so chances are he will have a lot of retribution in mind this Saturday night.
Speaking of Total Domination, their boss will be in town. The legendary Ox Baker, who made a career out of hurting people with his patented heart punch, has promised to be in La Marque to invoke some change. He said it will affect not only CWF, but his own group as well. "The Heartthrob" Phillip Barnard was very withdrawn about commenting on exactly what this means, only that his intentions will be revealed at the show.
One thing Barnard DID do was declare that if his group does not win all of their matches, he will leave the company. This has put a smile on nearly everybody's face at CWF, as he's been a thorn in the side of a lot of people over the last year. They would love nothing more to see him forced out of the company.
Also at "Summer Sizzler," fans will finally get an update regarding the condition of former CWF Tag Team Champion Major Eddie Lee. In June, he suffered a neck injury at the hands of Nate Laws, Onyx Cooper, and former WWE star Brian Christopher, when he was was viciously dropped on his head. After losing the titles that night, Lee has been fighting to recover and we will find out what his future holds in La Marque.
In other action, "The Texas Legacy" Austin Rhodes will be in action against the giant known as Yul Hubbard. You will also see Genesis, "One Man" Mike Dell, and The Southern Outlaw Boys (Roc Hardway and Jesse Logan). Plus, the CWF Tag Team Titles and Women's Championship will also be defended.
CWF "Summer Sizzler" takes place this Saturday, August 24, at the La Marque National Guard Armory, 3006 Gulf Freeway. Doors open at 6:30 P.M., with belltime set for 7:00 P.M. Tickets will be available at the door with the following prices:
