Star Crossed, for those who haven’t been lucky enough to see it yet, is one of the mid-season shows being run on the CW Network. It premiered in February, and since then has been quickly building a loyal fan base, some of whom are calling themselves Star Gazers.
The show is based ten years in the future when the world is trying to come to grips with an alien race called the Atrians, who crashed landed just outside of Baton Rouge, ten years earlier. Since their arrival the government has kept them locked away in the Sector. All that changes when a new integration program places seven Atrian teens in the local high school.
The lead characters are played by Matt Lanter (Roman) and Aimee Teegarden (Emery), two star crossed lovers (thus the name) who actually met on “Arrival Day” when they were six. Ten years later, Roman sees Emery upon arriving at the school, and the sparks begin to fly.
Now, being that this is a CW show, of course there is a love triangle, and plenty of pretty people to look at. In fact, the cast is full of really really cute people, for you to look at to your heart’s content. However, the plot lines of the various episodes are not your typical teenage drivel. This show strives to portray the complex world that has evolved to exist at the time that these two crazy star crossed lovers are trying to make their relationship work.
So, what’s standing in the way of two single young hotties hooking up for the long haul? Well, as it turns out not everyone is happy to have new alien neighbors; and not all the Atrians are willing to be held in what is basically an internment camp for much longer. The writers and cast brilliantly bring to life a world in turmoil, in which you can’t help but root for true love to win out. Viewers of all ages will find something to love about this show, but first they have to watch it.
Tonight CW showed the sixth episode, and to mark the occasion, several of the cast members gathered in their PJ’s to watch the first five episodes with their fans. During the “Star Crossed Marathon” there was live tweeting and instagraming going on throughout the episodes, prizes were given out, and a few lucky participants even got phone calls from the stars. The Star Gazers lit up the twitterverse, and #StarCrossed was soon trending throughout the day.
What does all this boil down to? Well, it means that those who are on the lookout for something new to binge watch over spring break need look no further. All past episodes can still be viewed on the CW’s Star Crossed website, as well as Hulu. Do a search for Star Crossed on YouTube, and you can also find lists of the episodes’ soundtracks. Fan sites are also popping up from here to Australia, which means there’s plenty of others out there to share your soon to be obsession with. So, go ahead and let Star Crossed start lighting up your Monday nights, you’ll be more than glad that you did. :)
