According to E! Online, which broke the news Thursday (Aug. 22), the actor will appear in episode five of the upcoming second season. His character is described as a meticulous, driven, deadly and formidable foe. Al-Owal, whose name means "The First" in Arabic, is after someone very close to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).
He is also a member of the League of Assassins, which is headed by Ra's Al Ghul, who is considered to be one of Batman's greatest nemesis, and was portrayed by Liam Neeson in "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight Rises." Malcom Merly (John Barrowman), Oliver's biggest enemy in the first season of "Arrow," was also a member of the League.
Negahban, who also played a terrorist on "24," joins a growing list of actors who will appear during Season 2, including Summer Glau as the villainous Isabel Rochev, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin, Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger, Kevin Alejandro as Sebastian Blood, Teryl Rothery as Jean Loring and Caity Lotz as the Black Canary, who is also Laurel's (Katie Cassidy) sister.
The show will also introduce Dr. Brett Allen aka The Flash in a three-part storyline, which is intended to set up a new spinoff series.
"Arrow" Season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7 p.m. CT on The CW.
