The CW's superhero drama "Arrow" has cast "Spartacus" actor Manu Bennett in a recurring role.
EW reported Friday (Nov. 30) that the New Zealand actor will appear in multiple episodes as Slade Wilson, who becomes the well-known villain Deathstroke in the Green Arrow comics.
The character briefly appeared in a flashback in a recent episode, but was masked and played by a different actor.
As presented in a series of flashbacks, Slade Wilson and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will form an unlikely alliance on the island of Lian Yua. It's unknown whether Wilson will become Deathstroke during his arc on the show.
Bennett will appear in the final season of "Spartacus," where he plays the lead character's right-hand man Crixus. He also has a role as an orc chieftain in two of the upcoming installments of Peter Jackson's big-screen adaptations of "The Hobbit."
Coincidentally, Amell was in consideration to replace Andy Whitfield as Spartacus following the actor's death, but the role eventually went to Liam McIntyre.
It was recently revealed that the Starz drama may be getting a spinoff centered on Julius Caesar, who will be featured in the upcoming third season.
"Arrow" continues Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW, while "Spartacus: War of the Damned" premieres on January 25.
