CW releases extended trailer of THE FLASH

Yesterday, CW released a 5-minute extended trailer of the The Flash.

Grant Gustin as The Flash
CW, DC Comics

The extended trailer provides a quick history of how Barry Allen gets his powers. Apparently, a particle accelerator causes a freak storm and Barry Allen ends up struck by lightning. Unlike the comic, Barry Allen falls into a coma after the lightning and ends up in S.T.A.R. Labs. The show also differs from the comics in that a select few is privy to his secret identity at the beginning of his superhero career. The show beautifully sets up a gallery of super villains for The Flash by stating that the freak storm gave super powers to other people too.

Grant Gustin stars in the titular role, surrounded by a fun cast that includes Candice Patton, Rick Cosnett, and Jesse L. Martin.

The trailer also showcases the crossover possibilities by having Green Arrow visits and giving The Flash some friendly advice.

John Wesley Shipp, the original Flash from the 1990's TV series The Flash, is cast in an unspecified role. Who knows what surprises are in store for the Flash.
