CW names directors for 'The Selection', 'The Hundred' and 'Reign' pilots

On Monday, it was announced that The CW has tapped Alex Graves, Bharat Nalluri and Brad Silberling to direct the network’s upcoming pilots of “The Selection,” “The Hundred” and “Reign.”

Graves will direct and executive producer the retooled version of “The Selection,” which had previously been in pilot contention for the 2012-13 season. The drama set 300 years in the future, is an epic romance centering on a working-class young woman chosen by lottery to participate in a competition with 25 other women for the royal prince’s hand to become the next queen. Graves previously directed pilots for “666 Park Avenue” and “Fringe.”

Nalluri is set to direct “The Hundred.” It is also set in the future, 97 years to be exact, after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization. The story focuses on a spaceship housing the lone survivors that sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet. Nalluri directed the pilot of “Emily Owens, M.D.” for the network last year.

Silberling will direct “Reign.” This drama is set in the past and tells the story of Mary Queen of Scots’ rise to power when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old betrothed to Prince Francis and brings her three best friends to be her ladies-in-waiting. The secret history of survival at French Court lies amid fierce foes, dark forces and a world of sexual intrigue.

Deadline was the first to report the news.
