CVS and Rite Aid are offering a new Craig Tablet with Android 4.0 for only $99 (Photos)

You may have seen the ads in the Sunday papers on August 5, 2012, for the Craig Wireless Touch Screen Tablets with Android 4.0. CVS and Rite Aid are offering these new devices for $99, especially tempting right here at back-to-school time.

CVS has previously marketed electronic devices as seasonal items in their stores, such as the Sylvania 7” Netbook and the Craig ePad, also marketed as the Craig Touchscreen tablet. These latest offerings are equipped with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system, which gives a much-improved Internet experience.

These devices also have a capacitive touch screen, and this is what makes this device worth a look. There is no more beating on the touch screen or wondering where the cursor is going to go; this is a quality touch screen and you will be pleased with it.

It is interesting to note that the Kindle Fire currently operates with Android 2.3.4, and the new Google Nexus Tablet features the latest Android 4.1 operating system (JellyBean.)

The 7” tablet market is very fluid, and as someone who evaluates devices for reviews regularly, this makes it quite difficult to pin down any concrete opinions or ratings. Before one tablet arrives at my door, the ones to which I compare it in a review are already announcing their new, improved number two model! For instance, while I was writing this, I realized that Kindle Fire and Galaxy are poised to release a new and improved model.

The device I purchased at a local CVS did have an issue with the battery charger, but they offer a no-questions refunds and exchanges on their electronics. Although equipment glitches can happen on any device regardless of the price point, there’s an equally valid point to be made about workmanship. There are other considerations besides just the "geeky specs" when you are evaluating a device, and the plastic, metal, and electric parts are as important as the gigs!
